For the Austrian State Printing Office, the production of these large-format colour lithographs, which were used as both teaching aids and wall decorations in the context of the lifestyle reform at the beginning of the 20th century, was a prestige project. The individual sheets were executed with 6 plates on average. Competitions were organised and artists of the Hagenbund and especially the Secession were invited to submit designs. Due to their high artistic quality, these rare sheets are today very much sought after by collectors and dealers.
