Designed at the beginning of 1918, the clock was one of the last works by this very talented artist, who died at the age of 35. According to the Wiener Werkstätte archives, only two such clocks were executed by Wiener Werkstätte. In terms of shape and technical execution, it resembles the clocks designed by Witzmann's teacher Josef Hoffmann in the early years of Wiener Werkstätte.
