The Hoffman student Hans Ofner designed stylistically very similar objects around 1907, which he then sold inter alia in his studio at Opernring 19 in Vienna’s first district.(Original paper label by Ofner, see autumn exhibition 2002, cat. nos. 93 and 94). An object from the artist's studio is shown there in the left showcase, documented in: Die Kunst, Vol. XVI, 1907, p. 274, in an article that pays tribute to the artist on more than 20 pages. Such appreciation in this most important art journal in the German-speaking world was shown to only a few artists, and even more rarely to "artisans".
Similar to this jug, the object presented in this article is an excellent example of Hans Ofner’s very distinctive design.
