Architect, furniture design, arts and crafts

Emanuel Josef Margold was born in Vienna on 4 May 1889. From 1903, he underwent training as a carpenter at the College for Woodwork at Königsberg/Eger. He then studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Mainz under Anton Huber, and from 1906, he studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Vienna under Josef Hoffmann.

From 1910 to 1912, he worked together with Hoffmann; he worked for the WW and took part in the 1913 exhibition in Darmstadt. He planned the Bahlsen factory in Hanover and made numerous designs for biscuit tins for production there. In 1929, he moved to Berlin. He took part in many exhibitions such as the 1908 and 1909 Kunstschau in Vienna, the 1910 Hunting Exhibition, the 1911 International Art Exhibition in Rome and the exhibition in the Austrian Museum of Art and Industry.
