Sculptor. Son of the sculptor and carver Franz Xaver Železny from Sternberk an der Sázava. 1880-1883 studied at the SGS in Vienna (Hesky, J. Deininger), for a short time also at the KGS. 1898 represented at the Secession exhibition, 1900 at the Paris World Exhibition, where he received a gold medal; 1902 at the Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Turin (honorary diploma). At the turn of the century he worked as a carver on furniture designs by J. Hoffmann, J. M. Olbrich and J. M. Auchenthaler. He created numerous portrait sculptures in wood (J. Vrchlický, bust of Popes Sixtus and Urban for St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, Isadora Duncan and others) as well as reliefs with animal motifs and caricatures.
